Scientific interest: Combining biological and computational approaches to expand the development of molecular glue therapeutics and shed light on novel degrader mechanisms

I enjoy trying different foods and recreating them in my own kitchen, I try to make every part of a dish from scratch!

Alicia Stein, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist in the lab of Dr. Mikolaj Slabicki at the MGH Krantz Family Center for Cancer Research.  She is interested in levering molecular and structural biology as well as exploring machine learning and bioinformatic approaches to identify clinically relevant proteins that can be targeted for protein degradation.

Alicia earned her B.S. in Biochemistry and English at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she developed an interest in genetics and how proteins influence gene expression.  Following her undergraduate studies, Alicia worked in the lab of Dr. Li Chai at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and became interested in the field of targeted protein degradation.  She then went on to pursue her Ph.D. at Yale University under the mentorship of Dr. Craig Crews, where she worked on developing novel molecular glue degrader thalidomide analogs.  In the Slabicki lab, Alicia hopes to further expand the druggable proteome with the next generation of molecular glue therapeutics.
